Darkest Hour
Darkest Hour
DARKEST HOUR's highly acclaimed, self-titled eighth full-length album is now also the highest Billboard debut chart positioning of their storied career. The Washington, DC-based band's first for new label Sumerian Records debuted at #94 on the Billboard Top 200 charts today. It showcases each individual pushing themselves outside of their comfort zone implementing more clean vocals with expanded dynamic melodies rooted firmly in thrash metal with bombastic shredding guitar solos.
Mike Schleibaum (guitars) states: Along with a new rhythm section, we also chose a very different route for the album's production this time around. While we have worked with well known producers in the past (Brian Mcternan, Devin Townsend, Fredrick Nordstrom), we chose a much younger and more local producer in Taylor Larson. He recently gained a lot of attention after his work with Periphery and after spending some time working with him we knew he was the man for the job. Tasked with making the most sonically modern, melodic and diverse DARKEST HOUT album yet, Taylor looked the challenge right in the eyes. He uncompromising approach to pushing us as songwriters and musicians was unrivaled. It took a young heart with a fresh perspective to get this album moving in the right direction and Taylor was the man in the driver's seat.
Some metal bands barely last 10 years, much less 15 years. If a band does get to the decade-and-a-half mark, they're usually sputtering out or are teetering on their last, diseased and ready-to-give out legs. Rare is the case where an aggressive band mutates, growing stronger, more unstoppable and more menacing with every passing riff, scream and album. Darkest Hour are such a case.
Darkest Hour rose from the ashes of the '90s convergence of metal and hardcore and while most of the bands are dinosaurs or are dead and gone, Darkest Hour haven't yet touched the core of their potential, despite their impressive resume. They've done a lot but still have more to do to fulfill their addiction to the music and their commitment to their fans and themselves. Sounds like a beautiful, complicated romance.

The mighty DARKEST HOUR returned with their most accomplished and innovative offering of their already storied career. Look for them touring the world all year long. DH is back and better than ever.
Ringworm
Ringworm
The reigning kings of destructive hardcore metal, have brought forth yet another testament to their sheer brutality: The Venomous Grand Design. Ever since their emergence from the Cleveland metal scene, Ringworm has garnered the immediate attention of hardcore metal fans, leading them to spots on tour with bands such as Blood For Blood, Hatebreed, and Terror. Ringworm displays an awesome ferocity in the power of their instruments, and vocalist the Human Furnace uses his voice as a tool to extract the diabolical nature of anyone who hears it.
Rotten Sound
Rotten Sound
Rotten Sound is a Finnish grindcore band, formed in 1993 in Vaasa.

Rotten Sound plays music in the same vein as Napalm Death and Extreme Noise Terror, lyrically attacking social issues such as greed, conformity and racism. The band has been praised mostly for its ferocity and relentlessness, as well as the unusually high musicianship of the group.

Playing live has always been a high priority for ROTTEN SOUND and their journeys led them to share stages with CARCASS, EXHUMED, VICTIMS, DISFEAR, PHOBIA, MISERY INDEX, NASUM, PIG DESTROYER, NAPALM DEATH, DOOM and many other leading bands of the extreme music scene, which they shaped in union with the Finns. Now 2013 will be more than just another year for shaking the foundations of live venues and assaulting people with deadly Grindcore. ROTTEN SOUND are also planning to re-enter the studio in order to record their next album straight after the extensive touring is done. Yet first it's time to get on the road and to have the final anniversary party heralded by "Species at War". "Keep your eyes peeled, follow the news and join the Grindcore party in a city near to you!", finishes Niinimaa. War is here!
Rivers Of Nihil
In a time when the music industry is highly over saturated, it's rare when artists genuinely strive to create something different from the norms of their genre. This Reading PA based 5 piece has been doing just that. Forming out of previous bands and local comradery, Jake, Brody, Jon, Biggs and Ron are on a relentless path of taking things to the next level. In the fall of 2009, they recorded an EP titled "Hierarchy" with producer Carson Slovak of Atrium Audio. The positive response to "Hierarchy" throughout the online community and local music scene gave the band the opportunity to play countless shows, including an appearance on the "Midwest Fuckfest" held in Milwaukee, as well as a 2 week tour within the first year of existence. Nearly 2 years of playing out "Hierarchy", the band entered the studio in June of 2011 with Len Carmichael to record "Temporality Unbound", which features six tracks of pure sonic devastation sure to please fans of the old material, while bringing in new listeners with the matured songwriting and niche for writing more than just riffs. "Temporality Unbound" will be released on October 28th, with touring currently being planned around the release.
